As part of my work in Paisaje Transversal, I have been working on the development of Local Urban Agendas in different medium size cities in Catalonia, including Esparreguera, Manresa and Cervelló, using the methodology developed by the company and based in the Spanish Urban Agenda.
The Spanish Urban Agenda is a strategic document that, aligned with the UN New Urban Agenda and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, aims at defining strategies, actions and urban policies that guide Spanish urban and rural areas towards more livable, inclusive, sustainable and healthy future scenarios.
The main goal is to support cities and villages into the development of their own Action Plans to face their main challenges through collaboration and participation of all stakeholders. The Action Plans of the Local Urban Agendas have a very strong governance component. They are developed through a conversation between the public and private sector, and the civil society, both social organisations and citizens, who take part through an intense participatory process.
Action Plans are followed by a strong local KPI’s system, based on the framework developd by the Spanish Ministry on Infrastructure, Mobility and Urban Agenda. This framework is based on the strategic objectives stated in the general Spanish Urban Agenda and it is adapted to the local context of each of the cities and urban areas.
You can have a more detailed look at the methodology used to develop the Action Plans at Paisaje Transversal‘s website on the Urban Agenda:
